Ictinike

Ictinike
In Sioux myth the son of the sun god who was expelled from heaven by his father for deceit and trickery and who is considered by the Sioux as ‘the father of lies’. The stories told of his disputes with the beaver, the flying squirrel, the kingfisher, and the musk-rat, all totems of the Sioux, show that he was always defeated by them, and he was probably a culture hero of some tribe whom the Sioux absorbed in the course of their history.
